OH YEAH baby!

Two days of double dipping AND a $5 off $20 coupon!? Just got the email!

REMEMBER: This Friday and Saturday, Double Dip Days at WAGS!

First, what are Double Dip Days? Thanks to Wags To Riches, here is a great explanation:

What are “Double Dip Days”?

Double Dip Days are the two days when two EasySaver Catalogs overlap each other.

How are “Double Dip Days” made possible?
It just happens that Walgreens’ EasySaver Catalog ends on the last Saturday of the month. Meanwhile the following month’s EasySaver Catalog starts on the last Friday of the previous month. That’s where the overlap occurs.

When are the next “Double Dip Days”?
The upcoming one will fall on Friday, September 26th and Saturday, September 27th.

What’s so good about “Double Dip Days”?
What’s great about DDD is the simple fact that you can take advantage of the deals within the TWO overlapping EasySaver Catalogs.

For example, if there’s a September deal going on and there’s an IVC available within the October ESR Catalog, you can use that IVC and still have it count towards the September deal and vice versa.

Better yet, you can even (though this is YMMV) use an IVC from each month’s Catalog and get double the savings!

The deals also work with the rebates. If there’s an IVC coupon in one Catalog you can use for a rebate for another month’s Catalog, it is completely valid! It’s genius!!!

What if the EasySaver Catalog isn’t available at my store by the Friday/Saturday?
You can bring in a printed version of the IVC. It is likely that an electronic version of the EasySaver Catalog will be available in advance so you can print the IVC from there and you store should/may accept it. Again, it may be a YMMV situation. Otherwise, you can kindly ask a cashier if they have their Catalogs out back and if you can have one.

Okay, I think that’s the quick lesson. If you’ve been DDD-ing for a while, please share anything I might have missed/or gotten wrong. If you’re still at a loss, leave a comment and I’ll endeavor to explain it.

Now, for the possible deals. I posted this last week, so this is just your reminder to GET TO YOUR WAGS tomorrow! LOL. And, if their trend repeats itself, there MAY be a $5 off coupon coming to add to this!

Changes coming for Walgreens?

This is news to me..but interesting! What do you think of it? Click on the title here to read the full article. I've taken excerpts out and posted here that I thought us couponers might find interesting.

Walgreens Working on Store Changes

Walgreen Co (WAG.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), under pressure to define its strategy after a failed acquisition bid, is working on changes to its drugstore format and has hired consultants Booz Allen Hamilton, the company told Reuters on Tuesday.

Booz Allen consultants have been working at the company's Deerfield, Illinois headquarters, a Walgreen spokesman said. He declined to discuss details, but said the company would unveil plans to improve store operations during an October 30 analyst day.................

Walgreen could also introduce a loyalty card, spruce up its stores or do more to promote its lower-priced generic plan to help boost traffic and sales as rival CVS Caremark (CVS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) ratchets up competition, analysts said.

CVS has raised the stakes for Walgreen with its entry into pharmacy benefits in March 2007, when it bought Caremark. Just this month, CVS won out over Walgreen in its acquisition of Longs Drug Stores Corp (LDG.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

Walgreen Chief Executive Jeffrey Rein abruptly left the company on October 10, two days after it withdrew an unsolicited bid that was repeatedly rebuffed by Longs.

Meanwhile, the pharmacy industry as a whole is grappling with Wal-Mart Stores Inc and others offering cheap generic drugs and in-store health services. An economic slowdown has U.S. consumers filling fewer prescriptions to save money.

Walgreen shares have shed about 35 percent since the start of the year, compared with a 27 percent drop for CVS.

Some say Walgreen could give details of a loyalty card, a plan it has been considering.

Rival CVS has had a loyalty program for years and outlined its vision for providing health services for some time.
